Current situation

Be that as it may, there has been plenty of sunshine in the last few days and this will continue for the time being. The frontal zone is too far north for the Alps, but brings some very stormy winter weather to the British Isles (and Iceland anyway). The zonal (= west-east) flow only has minor undulations, which arrive here as short-term clouding of the sunshine. It has also been comparatively very wintry in the southern Balkan countries and Turkey in recent days, where a low pressure system over the Aegean has caused flooding problems in some places and considerable amounts of snow at higher altitudes.

In the Alps, the outlook for the next few days is as follows: Today: Sun. Tomorrow (Thursday): Possibly a few clouds in the north. No major changes are currently in sight in the forecast either.
