Zachs Lyngen-Report: Teil 2/2014

In like a lamb, out like a lion… March is over.

02.04.2014 • von Zach Paley
Slowly, Lyngen is loosening its vice grip on things. Or so it occasionally seems. It’s been a difficult week with high but inconsistent payoff. There’s been no shortage of bushwhacking towards good snow, getting chased out of the alpine by wind, and a few good turns when things cooperate.

The cat and mouse game of finding good snow and bad light, bad snow and good views, hot saunas and cold oceans, clear but windy summits, and an awkward balance of yin and yang continues. With April just around the corner, hopes of less volatile weather are building. It’s a good thing too. The Japanese whisky is beginning to run dry.
Groups young and old have come and gone. Earning their turns and memories by the sea. Everyone agrees Lyngen, though tedious, is worth the payoff in March. While I don’t disagree, I’m ready for April.
