Control call Mammut Airbag 3.0

The affected airbag systems of generation 3.0 have a neon orange deployment handle. To be checked are the Mammut RAS and PAS systems, as well as the products under the Snowpulse Highmark brand and licensees such as Dakine, Thule, Rip Curl, etc., which are equipped with the Mammut Airbag System 3.0. All Mammut and Snowpulse systems of generation 2.0 with a red handle are not affected.

If the airbag balloon is not correctly attached to the airbag inflation system, the airbag may in some cases lose volume too quickly after deployment. As a result, the functionality of the airbag may be impaired in the event of an avalanche burial.

If the installation error described in the instructions is detected, the affected airbag system may no longer be used and must be returned immediately to Mammut customer service for replacement. Click here for a detailed description on the Mammut website.

The 3.0 systems have an orange handle.

1. Determine whether your avalanche airbag is affected by the control call.
The affected airbag systems of the 3.0 generation have a neon orange trigger handle. To be checked are the Mammut RAS and PAS systems, as well as the products under the Snowpulse Highmark brand with the Mammut airbag system 3.0. Not affected are all Mammut and Snowpulse systems of generation 2.0 with a red handle

2. If it is a system 3.0 system, open the airbag compartment of the backpack
Please open the airbag compartment carefully using the Velcro fastener without unfolding the airbag balloon.
Note: If the airbag balloon unfolds when the airbag compartment is opened, it must be folded up again after the safety check according to the user manual. To the airbag user manual

3. Carefully lift the folded airbag balloon onto its side so that the clamping ring (green circle in illustration) between the balloon and the airbag inflation system is clearly visible

4. Check the fixation of the clamping ring between the airbag balloon and the airbag inflation system
Check the fixation of the clamping ring by trying to move the clamping ring with your thumb and index finger. Important: The clamping ring must be tight and must not be able to be turned or moved with your fingers!

5. Assessment of the precautionary safety check Clamping ring is tight!
If the clamping ring is tight and cannot be turned or moved with your thumb and index finger, the fixation between the airbag balloon and the airbag inflation system is correct. Your airbag is ready for use again after stowing the airbag balloon in the airbag compartment of the backpack.

Clamping ring can be rotated and moved!
If the clamping ring can be rotated or moved using your thumb and index finger, then the fixation between the airbag balloon and the airbag inflation system is correct.
The affected airbag system must no longer be used and must be returned immediately to Mammut customer service for replacement!

Last year there was a call to check the correct routing of the deployment cable of the 3.0 airbag systems. Anyone who has not yet done so should do so as soon as possible.
