In addition, there was a weekend with lots of snow and extremely interesting tours on offer. The participants came from Switzerland, Austria and all parts of Germany. And the mountain guides and guides offering the tours were also extremely motivated, so successful, varied tours were just a formality.
Skins on, telescopic poles out and a steady, steep glide up the mountain, leaving altitude meter after altitude meter behind. Once at the top, there were one or two fine-tuning tips for the conversion and tips from the pros on riding technique.
In the evening, a live band and good food rounded off the exhausting day in a pleasant way.
The event impressed with great organization and good, successful content. What usually has to be painstakingly organized together - splitboard, avalanche training, guide - and for which a lot of money usually has to be raised, you got everything at once here. Apart from that, most snowboard stores don't offer splitboards for hire at all. And so one or two participants were able to get a great bargain with their new (splitboard) love on the spot.
The organizers of the Splitboard Festival are also active in the teaching team for prospective snowboard instructors. With the sports wholesaler Conrad and the Hotel Altwirt, whose team includes many passionate snowboarders, the organizers had strong and competent partners.
Note and event tip! The 10th Charity Hike & Ride in Garmisch on the Zugspitze should be fixed in your calendar. On April 5, 2015, the iconic hike-n-ride event will once again take place on Germany's highest mountain. Donations will be collected for a charitable cause for every run completed.
