First impression
The jacket is very light and has a simple design. Due to the weight saving, there are only two zippered pockets on the outside, but these are completely sufficient. You can also stow your cell phone or wallet in the spacious breast pocket on the inside. The cut could be a little more ergonomic for me: It fits with several baselayers, otherwise I find it relatively wide at the stomach and torso - which is very comfortable in terms of freedom of movement, however. I wore the jacket in a size M and am 172 cm tall and not very muscular or bulky in the upper body. The reversed zipper (zipper on the right, "naked" zipper end on the left) always irritates me when closing it.
Practical use
The jacket has accompanied me in the alpine and Argentinian winter and is well suited for me as an outer layer for insulation and simultaneous protection against light precipitation or wind. I would classify its insulation performance in the medium range. I have used it in inhospitable conditions during the ascent without breaking a sweat. In extremely cold conditions, I also have a hard shell jacket and warmer underwear with me and the First Light Hoody has coped well with this too.
