Mammut

The trend in recent years for all manufacturers to advertise ecological production is declining in comparison. However, there are still a few highlights, such as a new type of "Prima Loft" insulation, which uses plant down from the kapok tree. Many manufacturers now use the body mapping principle in their base layers.

Mammut

After Mammut had advertised with major highlights at ISPO in recent years, it was relatively quiet this year. The highlight is likely to be a new climbing helmet: with the Wall Rider, there is now also a helmet for the climbing scene that uses MIPS technology. In the event of an angled impact, the helmet shell shifts due to the MIPS layer. This is intended to reduce the risk of brain injuries. The Swiss company also won an ISPO award with the Nordwand HS Flex Jacket. This jacket is a 3-layer jacket with a special underarm construction and bi-elastic GORE TEX® STRETCH material. This is intended to enable perfect freedom of movement.

Pyua

The company Pyua, whose most important guiding principle is sustainability, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. They definitely have something to celebrate, because in addition to the company celebration, Pyua also won an ISPO Gold Award. The SNUG-Y 2.0 Hybrid Fleece Jacket is a fleece jacket made from recycled polyester and innovative synthetic insulation. The insulation consists of a padding of connected fiber balls, up to 80% recycled material is used.

Penguin Clothing

The Swiss company Penguin has completely redesigned its 3-layer jacket and pants, so there is now an additional zipper on the collar of the jacket that can be opened. This gives you more freedom of movement, especially when you have the hood up, and you also have a breathing opening. Some colors also offer the option of extending the jackets into a parka. The ventilation in the trousers has been moved slightly to the back, which should ensure better air circulation. The design of the two front pockets on the trousers has also changed slightly.

Helly Hansen

The Norwegian label, which is best known for its work and sailing jackets, is launching a new Prima jacket on the market in collaboration with PrimaLoft. Lifaloft is a new thermal insulation that is designed to be significantly lighter than the classic PrimaLoft fibers. The new insulation consists of 75% Lifa fibers and 25% Primaloft insulation. The fact that the Lifa fibers are thinner and longer also allows for better moisture exchange. Another side effect is that less water needs to be used for production.

Devold

As already mentioned, one trend is body mapping. With the Tuvegga Sport Air Baselayer, there is now a double-sided baselayer from Devold that can be used on both sides. One of the two sides has a fabric construction with knitted air channels, which should provide better insulation, while the other side has a smooth surface and should therefore be very breathable.

Miscellaneous

In addition to body mapping, weight reduction is also a big topic for many manufacturers this year. Efforts are being made to reduce the weight of hardshells, down and baselayers. Nevertheless, there have been a few outliers: the startup clim8 is trying to gain a foothold on the market with a completely new concept. An intelligent textile is designed to individually adjust the heat depending on the situation and body temperature. This is supposed to work with an app and heating elements in the clothing. As was the case last year, the color scheme is dominated by more sedate colors, although bright shades still catch the eye from time to time.
