With 950 lumens as artificial sunlight, the X-Sun can actually be used for skiing at night and even for powder runs with the handbrake on. Of course, the lamp can also be used for mountain biking at night, for jogging and all kinds of other sporting activities, the lamp is always sufficient and provides far more light than you need.
Depending on the temperature and the light intensity used, one battery charge lasts up to 40 hours, but in practice I have recharged the lamp at much shorter intervals.
Compared with the well-known mini lamps à Tikka (from Petzl), the X-Sun with battery and metal housing is almost a heavyweight at 272 grams. But when you have it on your head, the weight hardly bothers you. If you still find the weight annoying, you can remove the battery and stow it in a bag or on your belt or something.
Yes, if this headlamp is so great, why doesn't everyone have it? I can really only think of two arguments against the lamp. Firstly, the thing is so bright even in the weakest mode that it makes reading in the tent difficult due to the light reflecting off the paper. And the second objection is more weighty: the recommended retail price of the lamp is 280 euros.
However, if I add up all the lamps I've already broken, I come up with this price. And I'll take care of my X-Sun, that's for sure.
