Gear of the week | Wells Lamont x Faction Skis Glove

Faction Collective has entered into a liaison with Wells Lamont and the result is the product of my mountain honour, the Wells Lamont x Faction Glove.

But now back to my actual problem, the potential new all-purpose glove. I deliberately write "all-purpose glove" because I use them for snow clearing, construction, freeriding, ski touring and sometimes as an insulating layer in a bivouac booth. I only switch to another, thinner pair for spring ski tours.

When you slip the gloves on, the first thing you notice is the close-fitting cuff. I think this is great, it protects against snow getting in and fits well under jacket sleeves. The inside of the glove is pleasantly warm, but not too thickly lined. This means it's certainly not for Siberian temperatures, but it's perfectly adequate for our Alpine temperatures. Lined with 3M Thinsulate and with a fleece lining for optimum insulation and better heat retention, the glove still feels good for the ski pole, bindings, snow blower or anything else you can get your hands on. I find the water-repellent, grained cowhide leather comfortable to wear, it is not as "stubborn" as some other cowhide gloves. The colour of the leather darkens over time, which I like much better and makes the gloves "come alive". The back of the hand features both the Wells Lamont and Faction logos, so the successful partnership cannot be overlooked.
