Gear of the Week | Mons Royale Yotei Powder Hood

The Yotei Powder Hood is basically a classic base layer, but it can do a bit more. On the one hand, the hoody is elaborately made and has no seams on the shoulders and practical thumb loops, for example. On the other hand, there is the hood, which, together with the neat collar, keeps your neck and head warm. Even when you don't have it on, the collar easily replaces a scarf and prevents cold air from entering through the jacket collar.

The hoody is made from 190g/m² ZQ-certified merino wool, so it is of medium thickness and warmth. On ski tours, it keeps me nice and warm during the ascent and descent. As I almost always go up without a jacket, fleece, gloves or similar, I often have the hood up at the start of the ascent and the sleeves pulled far over my wrists with the help of the thumb loops.

I also like the Yotei Powder Hood when skiing in the ski area. Especially on colder days, I think the hood and collar are great. The hood fits easily under a ski helmet or hat and provides additional protection against the cold.

Naturally, the material is still quite comfortable to wear when damp, it dries relatively quickly and doesn't smell even after several days. All in all, a very nice piece! I like wearing the Yotei Powder Hood, both on ski tours and when freeriding or skiing in the area.
