After a lot of tinkering and numerous optimizations last season, our PowderMap now enables the display of ConditionsReports simultaneously with new snow or sunshine forecasts, as well as the SNOWGRID Layover. Reason enough to name it our Gear of the Week!

As usual, every week we select a special piece of equipment or other item that we as winter sports enthusiasts wouldn't want to be without (anymore) as our Gear of the Week. The wide selection ranges from screwdrivers, Ikea carrier bags, a multi-tool for adjusting bindings on the mountain, to various items of clothing or hardgoods such as skis, bindings and safety equipment. However, we are particularly proud to present you with today's GOTW: it's our beloved PowderMap!

In addition to countless hours of programming and overworked brain cells, this tool contains a wealth of important information that we need in our search for the perfect day in the snow. With the PowderMap, we have succeeded in combining various inputs relating to weather, snow and ConditionsReport into a standardized tool, both graphically and in terms of content. The information in the PowderMap comes from the ZAMG on the one hand and from our ConditionsReporters on the other, who report on the current conditions from the entire Alpine region.

To illustrate the functions of the PowderMap once again, here is a short video in which all the features are explained. Enjoy!

To use the PowderMap, let's briefly imagine the following scenario:
PowderAlex: "Where has there been the most fresh snow in the last two days?" -> Activation of the SNOWGRID layover, which shows you the fresh snow of the past few days including settling.

PowderAlex: "Great, now I know where it has snowed a lot, but where will the sun be shining tomorrow?" -> Switch to the sunshine forecast, which shows the predicted sunshine duration for the coming days.

PowderAlex: "Cool, there's 30cm of fresh snow on the Arlberg and sunshine tomorrow. If the base is still good there, I'm in." -> In addition, show the ConditionsReports in the map, read the corresponding CR from the Arlberg and look forward to a great powder day.

PowderAlex = happy

We hope you can use our PowderMap as sensibly as PowderAlex and wish you lots of fun clicking through the colorful maps!
