According to the manufacturer, the insulation is constructed in two parts with 133 g PrimaLoft Gold Cross Core on the back of the hand for maximum insulation and 60 g PrimaLoft Gold Eco in the palm for improved mobility.

In my opinion, the insulation is completely adequate. Only once have my fingers complained about the approaching cold. But that was only the case under difficult weather conditions at -20°C. High-quality goatskin is used for the fingers and palms. This makes the gloves very robust and means that they can be expected to last for many seasons. Part of the thumb is made of rough leather. This can be used to remove moisture from the outer lens of the goggles. A nice detail that can be helpful in one situation or another!

Black Diamond advertises the glove with GripControl in the palm. That doesn't just sound interesting, it also delivers what it promises. Even my heavy powder boards haven't slipped out of my hands yet when I've had to make a quick run to the bus. The glove can only be worn under the sleeves of the jacket - it simply looks better than large snow cuffs up to the mid-arm. Thanks to the stretchy knitted cuffs, snow won't get into the gloves if you do fall into deep snow. The detachable wrist loops prevent you from losing them and possibly save you from standing in the lift queue without gloves.

Conclusion:

After more than 20 days in the snow, on the piste, in powder and on tour, I like the great wearing comfort and the warm insulation of the Session Knit gloves. The workmanship, quality and design are top notch. And with the comfortable knitted cuffs, the Session Knit gloves are great to wear under a jacket. Just as it should be!
