Gear of the Week | Big Foot Pro Model

The short fun

by Steffen Kruse 04/22/2018
Towards the end of the season, the focus shifts more towards firn descents, north faces and challenging, narrow residual snow couloirs. The cold and dark winter period was used by a small community to work ambitiously on the ideal setup for these goals. We are now proud to present the result of our hard work.

The days of long powder turns are slowly coming to an end for this winter, at least in our part of the world, and the activities of the general population are switching to summer mode, which means: biking, climbing, swimming, barbecues and so on are on the agenda. But not for one particular species, the Big Foot rider! Further details about this piece of sports equipment can be found here for beginners/transitioners and advanced riders to read in addition to this article.

We have been working intensively with this piece of sports equipment and its wide range of uses for several years now. It was high time to push the boundaries again and venture into new dimensions. But good advice is expensive, or even impossible to come by! After days and nights of intensive brainstorming and sketching, the first test model was born:

The steep channel downhill-oriented Big Foot with ascent function.

It wasn't just important to us to create something, no, we wanted to think through and implement our idea down to the smallest detail. Details such as appropriately cut skins for the most aggressive and steepest ascent possible were just as important to us as the color-accurate deep snow straps in a contemporary shade, just in case. A backpack adapted to the sports equipment, matching poles and, if necessary, sunglasses and clothing complete the work of art.

The planning and implementation has been completed and now we are moving into the vastness of the Alps to test what we have planned so that we can hopefully go into series production soon. There are plenty of requests, but we don't want to launch anything on the market that hasn't been extensively tested and has been awarded the "long-term gear review passed" seal of approval by PowderGuide.com.

On that note, happy gliding and have a great spring season!
